When she became the thing they feared

What happens when she becomes the thing they feared?

Everything, and more. Beyond their imagination. When she defied expectation and flew so high, she became only a speck from where they stood, craning their necks to stare into an azure sky.

She was a bird of many colors, and while they admired her flight, they secretly prayed for rain. Just so she would stay on the ground with them for a little longer. She would have carried them in a basket, on her wings, or even taught them how to fly, too.

But they prayed for rain.

When the sun finally came out, she dried off the droplets the best she could. And took flight. The winds still whispered, and there were still storm clouds to slow her; she didn’t stop.

They stayed on the ground.

And she became the thing they feared and everything more.

Because they were just specks on the earth.
